It is the time of year when students at high school, college and university are looking for scholarships to help them with the cost of post-secondary education.
Before you start looking for scholarships check whether you are eligible for free tuition.
By entering basic information at Ontario.ca/osap, in just a few clicks students will learn whether they are eligible for free tuition and how much aid they could receive from the new Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP).
Easter Seals Ontario – 2018 Scholarship Applications Now Available!
Easter Seals offers a range of titled scholarships for students with physical disabilities, ranging in amounts from $500 to up to $5,000 for a single year of post-secondary education.
The deadline for this year’s applications is May 4, 2018.

You can also check the National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS) website as they have many scholarships for students with disabilities.
NEADS is a consumer organization with a mandate to encourage self empowerment of post-secondary students with physical disabilities. The NEADS website has a list of various Student Awards/Financial Aid.
Tips for Successful Scholarship Applications
There is a great deal of competition for scholarships and Easter Seals Ontario has some tips that can improve your chances of a successful scholarship application. Key tips include:
- Complete the application fully and make sure every section is complete. Messy or incomplete applications may not even get reviewed.
- Speak to your references as early as possible to give them time to complete any forms or write letters. Remember you are not the only one asking your guidance counsellor or teacher for help.
- Write your own answers or essays. Organizations can tell if your Mother wrote the response. Your words and ideas are important.
- Submit the completed application well before the deadline.
