This great reference guide has been update by Melissa Ngo, the Family Support Specialist.  For family members finding all of this information in one place is very helpful. Funding levels of all types are represented, including those from local, provincial, and federal governments, tax credits, and private organizations. Examples include the Exceptional Access Program, which covers access to medications not covered by the Ontario Drug Benefit, and Special Services at Home, which provides funding for respite services, as well as assists children to learn new skills and participate in their community.

In addition to updating information on specific organizations, the new edition adds and removes some entries as needed.  For example, the President’s Choice Children’s Charity and Children’s Fitness and Arts Tax Credits from the 2016 list have been removed as they are no longer available. New this year are the First Hand Foundation, which offers support for certain medical procedures, equipment, and displacement fees for children with a clinically relevant health care need, and the Government of Ontario’s AffordAbility Fund, which helps residents struggling with the cost of utilities.

Although every effort has been made to ensure the information is accurate, you should always check with the organization for the most up to date information, especially concerning funding availability and eligibility.
